Carthamus tinctorious Grenade mix

€3.50

Carthamus tinctorious Grenade mix - orange and white

Chosen for use as dried and fresh. Also known as safflower or false saffron.

Non - pictorial packs for growers. Pack contains the seeds in an innner envelope.

Germination Instructions : Sow indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost or sow directly from April/May (depending on your last frost). Surface sow onto moist, well drained seed compost. Just cover with a sprinkling of soil, the seeds are quite large so easy to handle. Ideal temp to germinate is 13-18°C which can take a week or two to germinate. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots and grow on. Harden off and plant out after danger of frost has passed. Directly sow 1mm deep into prepared soil. I’ve grown in the polytunnel from tray sown seeds and direct outside and both did well.

Growing Instructions Prefers a moist, well-drained, fertile soil. Full sun is preferred for best flowering.

If using for dried flowers, then cut when open in flower and hang upside down to dry in a dark airy space.

When to Sow: Feb to April inside, April to May outside. June might be pushing it, I did try but its very weather dependent.

Seed Content: 50 seeds
