Aquilegia x Garden Mix
Aquilegia Garden Mix
Note this is a mix of saved seeds from my garden so there is no guarantee what colour or shape they will be! You might discover a new flower!
Non - pictorial packs for growers.
Seed Content : 150 seeds minimum
Type: Perennial
Group/Species: coerulea
Common name: Granny’s Bonnet, Columbine
Germination Instructions
Sow seeds indoors onto the surface of moist well-drained seed compost. Cover with a fine layer of vermiculite as they need light to germinate. Propagate at 15-21°C. Germination can take three weeks and can be erratic as with a lot of perennials. It may require cold stratification to germinate so for this I recommend popping the seed or seed envelope into the fridge in a freezer bag for a few days before sowing. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots and grow on in cooler conditions. Harden off and plant out after danger of frost has passed. Autumn sowings are kept in a cold frame or unheated greenhouse for winter
Cultivation
Likes any soil as long as it is moist but well draining. Water until established and then weekly. Unless its raining a lot, no need to water. Deadhead regularly to extend flowering and encourage further blooms.
When to Sow: Jan to May and August-Sept . I do find it will take a couple of years to flower. I am trialing a September sowing this year to see if they flower next summer.
In Bloom : May to July
